Image above was captured by me.
With looking at the creation by such artist’s like Mia
Pearlan and Emma Van Leest, I was inspired to try and crate such a paper
sculpture like there’s. With that I tried to learn about technical and style
this could help me understand the mechanic I would need to build such a
sculpture.
started with making a set the basic 3 bard stand this is
to represent the space I want to consider working in. Red for the wall’s black
for the floor and white which will be the sculpture. With that I stuck them
together using double sided tap, why double sided that will become more arrant
as I go on. So I had my 3 wall’s now I
need to begin sculpting and carving at the paper. But first I drew a few line
over the paper to give me more of an idea for the shape, I used a bold black
pen to make these lines. From there I began caving away using a fine paper scalpel
and I must say it really is trial and error; one cut will define the next so on
so forth. Once I had cut out enough I began arranging them agent the set I had
made to see what work’s what didn’t and if I needed any more cut out’s. Now the
double sided tap cam in very handy 1 for its endurable strength it has and 2 to
its double sided witch helped no keep it stuck to the set I had constricted.
As an outcome I this it is visually interesting and for me
pulls you in with intersegment. But as I wanted to play with the idea of light
and image, As you see in the image below I have to just that.
Agen this image was captured by me.
To create this image was very simple, I wanted to see how it
would look with light coming though the small paper sculpture I had make. So I cut
a small slit in the back of the set and placed a light behind the set and as
you can see, I would say has become very active. It really pulls you in and makes
you question what you are looking at witch I love that it has this affect. With
this I want to create a lager 8 foot sculpture initial made form paper in the
same prose that I have just talked about its works or not is a diffract matter.
